MUSIC SEMINARS AVAILABLE (We’ve heard a church likened to a three legged stool. Each leg represents either the administration, the message, or the music. If one of these is faulty, the stool cannot stand. We can help you take your music leg to the next level. If your services could use a musical jolt, if there’s a perceived gap between the congregation and platform, or if you’re in need of God’s love, joy and freedom, look no further!)
Do You Need A Music Team? -- If you have a desire to form a team, and have people who desire to be a blessing, factor in the anointing and you’re on your way. We’ll ’brainstorm with the pastor, utilize available talent, and see if a worship team is a right fit for your church. If it is, we’ll help you make it happen! Mark & Denise travel by request to assist and/or troubleshoot your music team or help you start one.
Prepare To Lead Worship -- What goes into leading corporate worship? Understand your church’s program, preparing song lists, blending old with the new, being sensitive to the Holy Spirit and the congregation, maintaining balance between structure and spontaneity, working with time constraints, keeping it new, etc.
Putting Together A Praise And Worship Band -- Music teams in churches don’t just happen overnight. Each member of the team needs to understand their role and how together the whole is greater than the individual. Submission, attitude and commitment are keys to making the team work along with music practicalities. Without it, you’re just another garage band! This basic session is for musicians with limited or no experience playing with others.
Taking It To The Next Level -- Technical, Instruments, Vocals -- There’s ALWAYS room for improvement on a music team. Skill levels can be honed thru knowledge, practice and equipment! If you’re looking for constructive tips and encouragement for your team, this session is a must for you! Work on practical ways to improve individually and as a team. This intermediate session is for those with some experience playing in a band but want to take things to the next level
Rehearsals /Sound Checks -- This session will help you see the difference between practicing and rehearsing as well as making better use of your time together as a team and individually. We’ve heard that the sound man is one of the least appreciated positions in a church, but perhaps one of the most challenging. Learn the balance between the worship leader, sound engineer and pastor. It’s not always easy, but it can be done.
The Role of a Guitar Player In Worship -- This intermediate workshop will give you the opportunity to meet with Mark who has played both acoustic and electric guitar on praise and worship teams since 1979. He has plenty of insight on corporate worship, with lots of music practicality.
The Role of a Singer In Worship -- This workshop will help you look at corporate worship with a little philosophy and plenty of music practicality.
Sound System & Technology -- This is a basic introduction to a sound system for your church. Included are platform sound vs house sound, placement of mics, monitors and speakers, mic techniques for singers, and range of costs are some topics covered.
Songwriting & Arranging -- If you’ve tried your hand at writing songs, but they don’t seem to have any ‘wow’ factor, you need to take a second look. Songs need to have a good hook, melody and lyrical content. In this basic session, you’ll hear about our current songs, the stories behind the songs, and some chord voicings. We want to encourage you in your craft.
